I also own the 14-24 f/2.8 S + 100-400 on order. If I keep the 24-70, I would have a gap from 70 to 100 which kind bothers me. Lenses with a built-in focus motor can autofocus even if the camera does not have its own focus motor. Has full-time manual focus. Nikon Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S. Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD. With full-time manual focus, you can move the focus ring whilst it is in AF (autofocus) mode.
One example was releasing the 24-70 f/4, then the f/2.8 version, and now the 24-120mm. Another example was releasing the 14-30mm, then the 20mm f.1/8 and finally the best ultra-wide zoom in the 14-24mm f/2.8. Nikon has also released the f/1.8 primes long before the f/1.2 versions.
